Warning: you might want to get your tissues ready. Beezus is a young Lab mix who was found in horrible condition. Her family's house had burned down, and left her behind to fend for herself. Thankfully she and her sister, Ramona, were found and brought to a local rescue, and eventually transferred to Five Acres.

Due to this rough start to life, it's no surprise that Beezus came to us pretty afraid and slow to warm up to new people and surroundings. For several days our team had to carry her in and out of her kennel because she was too afraid of what might await her. After being placed in a foster home, she sadly found a way to escape and lived outdoors for several days. She would be spotted frequently near the home, but wouldn't come anywhere near people. Our team and the foster family made sure she had access to food and shelter, and eventually she was successfully trapped and brought back to Five Acres safe and sound.

Since coming back to the shelter, our team has learned that the key to getting this sweet girl to open up is, surprisingly, other dogs! Our team began taking her on walks alongside other dogs, and eventually play groups. Beezus is becoming more and more confident every day and is ready to find her forever home.

Due to her growing confidence with other dogs we are hoping to place Beezus in a home with another confident dog who can play appropriately but also respect her space when she needs it.

If you are interested in meeting Beezus, please complete an adoption questionnaire here
