Welcome to the Five Acres Animal Shelter Top 5 for May 27th, 2023! Happy Memorial Day Weekend! In this edition you'll learn about an important opportunity to offer your valuable feedback, a happy tale about a dog who found is forever home after nearly two years, and a few animals who could use your help! Enjoy!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This year we are celebrating 50 years of helping pets in our community. As we look ahead to our next chapter, we are looking for feedback from local pet owners. If you are a pet parent, please click over and take a quick 5-minute survey to help us better understand what you need from your local shelter.

BOOMER IS LOOKING FOR HIS FREEDOM RIDE

Need a cuddle buddy? Boomer is here to fill that void in your life. He adores people and has lived with kids in his previous home. Boomer is so cuddly, he is all the dog you need. Boomer loves to go on adventures off-campus with his shelter buddy around town, but we think his favorite part is going on the car rides!

Since arriving at the shelter, Boomer has been having a hard time adjusting to the chaotic environment of the shelter. We would love to get him out of here and into an adoptive or foster home! Boomer's ideal home does not have any other animals, and has plenty of space on your couch to snuggle up.

OUR COMMUNITY STEPS UP AGAIN FOR PETS AND FAMILIES IN NEED!

In addition to the many community members who donate food and supplies for our AniMeals Food Pantry, two local companies helped us prepare another busy month! Treats Unleashed and Wag n Wash both helped to stock our shelves to ensure we are ready to help families in need of food and supplies for their pets. Last month alone, the AniMeals Food Pantry was able to help 95 dogs and 62 cats - all thanks to support from our community!

Interested in supporting AniMeals in a different way? You can support a cat in need for just $15 and a dog in need for $25! This helps provide a month's worth of food and supplies. Learn more here

JANE AUSTEN IS READY FOR HER NEW CHAPTER

Jane Austen is a three-year-old stunner who was rescued from a hoarding situation and eventually brought to Five Acres. We are so happy she is in our care, but she is not thrilled to be in the shelter! Jane Austen is not a fan of other cats, and being around so many at the shelter has caused her to start over-grooming due to stress. Ouch! This over-grooming could also possibly be due to allergies, so we are trying different foods with her to see if we can identify the issue.

To help with Jane Austen's stress and to help narrow down what may be causing her over-grooming, we are urgently trying to find her a home! She is an affectionate, laid back cat and we know she has so much love to give. She just needs the right home and family who will be patient and give her the space to bloom into the amazing cat she is.

You can learn more about being a foster home for Jane Austen by emailing our Feline Foster Coordinator, Joe, at joe@fiveacresanimalshelter, or you can complete an adoption questionnaire here

AFTER NEARLY TWO YEARS IN CARE, FERB FINDS HIS FUR-EVER HOME!

Our buddy, Ferb, a.k.a. "Ferb-alicious" or "Ferbie-Ferb", found his forever home after spending nearly two years in our care. Ferb came in as a stray in July of 2021 and has been in and out of different foster homes since then. We are happy to share that his most recent foster fell in love with this sweet boy, and decided to make things official!

Ferb's story is a great example of the huge importance of foster homes. So many animals in shelters become completely different animals once they are in a home, and it makes all the difference! Thank you to everyone who has helped Ferb along in his journey and to his fantastic adopter! Happy life, Ferb!

When you make a gift to Five Acres, you are helping to give the highest level of care to animals in need and giving them the chance they deserve to find a forever home. Every single dollar helps accomplish our mission of ending pet homelessness in our community.
